Gloria Cocchi, Copulas in Bantu: hints for verb movement
This work analyses copular constructions and compound verbal forms in Bantu, with examples from Tshiluba and Swahili. The way copulas/auxiliaries and lexical verbs combine in the rigid linear order with the other morphemes that form the typical Bantu complex verbs (in particular tense/aspect affixes, subject prefixes and locative and relative suffixes) provides information on the strength of the V-features contained in C°; and in I°;. The conclusion is that both of these features are strong: in order to check them, the auxiliary raises to C°, and the verb raises to I°, or even to C°; in non-compound forms, unless checking can be performed via Merge.
Giuseppina Turano, Albanian Ablative Phrases
The aim of this article is to present an analysis of a particular construction we find in Albanian consisting of two adjacent nominals. This kind of construction is analysed in terms of movement of the two nominal phrases, which raise respectively to the SpecDP and to the SpecCP inside the C domain of the nominal phrase. The analysis assumed in this paper gives evidence supporting the clausal nature of the internal structure of nominals and the parallelism between Noun Phrases and clauses.
Luciana Brandi, Tra musica e linguaggio. Alle origini della parola
Music and language are considered in their interrelations both in ontogeny and in philogeny. W.r.t. the historical evolution of human cognitive capacities, 'misilanguage'; identifies the proto-form of communication where language and music were not differentiated and reference and emotion were integrated: thereafter, music become the expression of emotional semantic, language of referential semantic. W.r.t. ontogeny, the main idea is that language develops from a period - the first year of life - where musicality is the paradigm trough which the infant reaches his/her language: pitch, sequences of pitchs i.e. melody, rythm, are the cues. Musicality, as connected with emotions and body movements, allows the rise of protoconversations between mother and infant. Some cases of autism are considered to show that musicality could offer the way to explain various characters of language impairments in autism, in connection with the consideration of neurobiological deficits related to different areas of brain and cerebellum. As to explain the features of language development in autistic children, the theory of emergent phonetic and the concept of imitation for the emergence of phonetic segments are considered.
Anna Jampol'skaja, Osservazioni linguistiche sui messaggi pubblicitari russi
This paper illustrates the evolution of the Russian advertising in the 20th century and its functions (informative, didactic, ideological) in various periods. The content of the advertisement message is analysed from two points of view: 1) which element prevails: information about the product or social values? and 2) which social stereotypes are expressed in the advertisement? This method of analysis allows us to find out elements of tradition and innovation in Russian advertisement and to explain its particularity compared with the Western advertisement.
Giovanna Princi Braccini, Aldelmo di Malmesbury probabile autore in volgare: esame delle fonti e dell'Aldelmo trilingue del ms. Cccc 326 (prima scheda di un inventario dei testi in antico inglese andati perduti)
Passages from English medieval Latin authors where mention is made of Aldhelm of Malmesbury as a preacher and poet in vernacular are commented. The evidence of this activity may be strengthened by the fact that Aldhelm is called a scop in a trilingual poem in a ms. of the X century written in his praise.

Giovanna Princi Braccini, Hiltibraht e Hadubraht. Nota su due lezioni autentiche del Carme di Ildebrando
We try to demonstrate that the forms Hiltibraht e Hadubraht of the manuscrit of the Hildebrandslied must be maintained in a critical edition because of a specific role they play in the general economy of the text.
Leonardo M. Savoia, Ideologia nazionale e indagine linguistica. Due conferenze albanesi
The two lectures of which this article consists deal with very tightly connected issues, concerning the relationship between linguistic theory and ideological attitudes. This relationship appears to be generally in force in the different fields of the scientific research; in the case of linguistic studies it assumes a particularly crucial status. This article aims at exploring some aspects of the formation process of a national language, in this case Albanian language. The first part of the article concentrates on the fact that the national ideals affected and simultaneously were based on the linguistic theories. Thus, the idea of a national language was supported by the conception that different languages correspond to different ways of thinking. In particular, as discussed in the second part, etymological research contributed to construct the special social device known as ‘national language’; the studies of Eqrem Çabej had an important role in this direction.
