M. Rita Manzini, L. M. SavoiaUninterpretable Features are Incompatible in Morphology with Other Minimalist Postulates

In this article we argue in favor of the proposal that syntax and morphology should run on the same categories, namely syntactic categories like N, Q, D etc., to the exclusion of the traditional morphological feature set {person, number, gender, case}. Such a reform is needed if basic explanatory adequacy criteria are to be met in morphology. In particular, we shall draw together arguments concerning the phi-set and the case system presented by Manzini and Savoia (2002a, 2002b, 2004a, 2004b) in connection with specific problems in the analysis of clitics and agreement. We shall briefly indicate what we consider to be the basic inadequacies of the classical model at the end of the article, in comparing it with the model sketched here, thus eventually motivating the title of this article.

Francesca FiciCostrutti riflessivi nel russo moderno: considerazioni a margine di operazioni lessicali

Given that in Russian the same reflexive morpheme marks verbs giving rise to different constructions, I investigated whether the marking concerns one or two different phenomena, according to the basic properties of the verb. Starting from the argumental properties of the verbs and from the inherent characteristics of the arguments, I tried to demonstrate that when the SI is connected with the promotion of the internal argument in the position of the subject, it is a morpheme. When the clitic reflexive pronouns is not associated with such movement, it can be seen as an internal argument, semantically connected with the subject, keeping the post verbal position.

Ettore CardelliI verbi di movimento del russo e l'espressione del movimento in italiano: analisi di un divario semantico

In this paper I tried to stress the main semantic differences between the verbal category of verbs of motion in Russian and the expression of movement in Italian. I also tried to show, in an exhaustive way, the structure and rules regulating the use and understanding of verbs of motion in Russian. Especially the relation with the aspectual category and the importance for the selection of pertinent verbal form of the analysis of the logical, spatial and temporal context which includes movement and act of communication. I also tried to suggest a possible approach by means of the creation of mental images, setting out to combine all the variables regulating the selection of various verbal forms.

Patrizia Bellucci, Maria PalmeriniProcessi penali: la prova si forma oralmente in dibattimento, ma si deposita nella trascrizione agli atti

In this article, the main linguistic features of the criminal proceeding in Italy are analyzed. In fact, the Code of Criminal Procedure in force regulates the procedure and format of asymmetrical interaction par excellence with norms full of linguistic implications. The latter are relevant both to understanding this particular kind of linguistic event than to put into perspective the linguistic competencies required by jurists (prosecutors and attorneys), on one hand, and by questioned parties (defendants and witnesses) on the other. It then seeks to prove that, even if the evidence must be formed orally during the cross-examination, orality and literacy are intertwined in practice in several ways. Eventually, the abstract goes on comparing the audio recordings and the registration of the trial and examples of interruptions and overlappings are quoted, which are important in the interaction but which are omitted in the registration of the deeds.

Mirko GrimaldiIl dialetto rinasce in chat

In the Italian area dialects are getting involved by new dynamics: on one side dialects are used together with Italian language, on the other side dialects rather then Italian appear in particular contexts. Dialects are used in cartoons, in local TV advertising, in weekly local newspapers, in rap music, etc. This work analyses the use of southern dialects in chat-line conversations. The most important feature that comes up from the corpus is the code-switching Italian dialect, exploited as rhetorical resource to ironically stress the discourse context. Preliminary results show that in this corpus speakers intentionally use code-switching in order to obtain a particular pragmatic effects. This point to the fact that speakers employ the two codes with bilingual competence and no diglossia.

Serena LenziLanguage Testing e nuove tecnologie

The increasing demand of reliable and fast tests is one of the main reasons of the wider employment of the new technologies. The computer can be used in the different stages of the testing cycle, from design to validation. The impact of multimedia tools and of the Internet seem to affect most LT activities. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the real impact of these new tools on the actual building of LT.

Luciana Brandi, Andrea BigagliNeuroni specchio, linguaggio e autismo

Mirror neurons have been discovered by recording electrical activity of 532 neurons in macaque monkeys'; premotor areas. 92 of that neurons became active both when the monkeys performed a given action and when they observed or heard the same action. Mirror neurons have been discovered in human Broca's area too. The motor theory of language perception sees that neurons, ontogeneticaly, as the basis of language evolution (especially considering imitative ability). Their functioning is also involved in autistic syndrome: the theoretical module that is impaired in autism is situated in the Broca area, where are mirror neurons too.

, Amund, anagrift, astalin e idoneus: nuove etimologie e significati autentici di quattro parole longobarde

The author argues that the first member of the Lombard words amund and anagrif may conceal a full word (resp. 'law'; and 'favour'), in accordance with the explanations given by the Latin text of the Leges Langobardorum. For astalin the author rejects the connection with a verb meaning 'to fly'; suggesting a connection with a verb meaning 'to stay', and in idoneus and idoneare detects the Germanic word meaning 'oath'.

Rossana StefanelliGreco liavzomai Una nota lessicale

Homeric philologists consider liavzomai as a Homerisches Wort, that is a lexical item which exhibits a primary meaning ('to bend') and a secondary one ('to withdraw'), the latter developed through conditioning via context. On the ground of textual evidences, this paper aims at specifying the semantic features of liavzomai that allow its 'descriptive meaning' (approx. it. 'farsi piatto, appiattarsi, appiattirsi') to fit in all its occurrences. Finally, in order to verify the suggested meaning, we examine the uses of the derived adjective ajlivasto".

Stefania PavanVasilij Rozanov e la prosa russa del XX secolo. Considerazioni su accettazione e rifiuto della cultura rinascimentale italiana

This critical essay tries to draw the line, connecting Rozanov with the Russian greatest prose writers of the 20th century till our days. Rozanov, as a man a thinker and a writer, is seen as the initiator of a new prose form and as the heir of the previous cultural tradition, especially as a Dostoevsky's successor. In a certain sense, Rozanov's life and works act as many-sided links with the works of Remizov, Vaginov, Bakhtin, Siniavsky, Bitov, Venedikt Erofeev, Viktor Erofeev and many others. The most important thing is that all these many-sided links hint at the specificity of the Russian idea of Humanism, at the leading role of the Intelligentsia in the history of the country.
